Counter Pavilion to Borden Park by gh.3*

Design Tutor: Will Perkins

The Borden Park Pool counterpoint integrates functionality for winter use by doubling as an outdoor skating rink. A pavilion houses amenities such as a boot room and viewing area, where guests can comfortably transition from skates to enjoy the pool's view. Materials evoke familiarity, facilitating seamless navigation along Gabion walls and through steel doors. Whether skating or seeking warmth, the layout enables passive interaction with the filtration system. Users traverse from the mechanical filter entrance to the living pond exit, engaging with the filtration process throughout. A tectonic steel canopy spans the space, sheltering visitors and illuminating the draped linen within the stereotomic environment.
